While homegrown Oklahoma filmmakers like Dylan Brodie have been working hard for many years to improve the industry within Oklahoma, others have been representing the state’s talent in Hollywood productions for decades. In today’s episode of The Cinematic Schematic, we sit down with 2024 deadCenter ICON, Paul Sparks.
Paul Sparks, Prolific Character Actor and Committed Storyteller
Sparks is a prolific character whose career has put him alongside some of the biggest movie stars on the planet. He’s worked with the likes of Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman, Michael Shannon and Adam Driver in Jeff Nichol’s Midnight Special, Steve Buscemi and Shea Whigham in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, and Robin Wright in Netflix’s House of Cards.
Even though you may not immediately recognize his name, you’ve undoubtedly seen his talent in film and TV. Sparks talks about what it’s like to return to Oklahoma as a freshly minted ICON. The acclaimed actor shares his perspective on his craft, shopping for work in his home state, and his most memorable filmgoing experience.
Sparks also provides a short tease for his upcoming film reuniting him with director Jeff Nichols, The Bikeriders, opening on June 21st.
