What do feuding couples, old-school Looney Tunes, a nice bottle of wine, and the Coen Brother’s flavor of dark humor have in common? They’ve all played a role in shaping the unique flare in Planet Thunder Productions’ newest film, Hell Hath No Fury.
The Cinematropolis‘s deadCenter 2023 exclusive coverage continues with an interview featuring Planet Thunder Productions (also The Cinematropolis co-founders) Zachary and Jacob Leighton Burns and stars Leah N.H. Philpott(Country Gold, Adventures of Rufus: The Fantastic Pet) and Jacob Ryan Snovel(Mickey Reece’s Alien, She’s the Eldest) ahead of the film’s Oklahoma premiere at the festival on Thursday, June 8th.
A Long-Awaited Directorial Debut
After several years directing short films and documentaries, serving as a producer, and working in other essential creative roles at Planet Thunder Productions, Zachary Burns has stepped up for his first feature-length film directorial debut. Based on a script from his brother Jacob Burns, Hell Hath No Fury follows the story of a married couple who are secretly trying to murder each other during the holiday season. The premise promises the levity the team has been seeking following their last two sci-fi projects, Shifter, and Electric Nostalgia.
Of course, creating the comedic chaos needed for a successful movie requires the right cast to land the scripted jokes and even elevate what’s on the page through physical comedy. Philpott undeniably commands the screen as the primary protagonist, Priscilla Brewster opposite Snovel’s cartoon-come-to-life, Silas Brewster. The shenanigans and wall-to-wall laughs sparked by the couple are a must-see at this year’s deadCenter Film Festival.
Listen to the conversation to prepare for the film’s Oklahoma premiere in the late-night 9 PM slot on Thursday, June 8th at the Harkins Bricktown Theater.
